A decent dental plan will run about $40/month. And NOTHING is covered the first year.
Two cleanings will run you about $150 total. I'm using my dentist's number, Dr. Wilderman, here in SF.
So what happened to the $330 left over? I don't know. Nobody knows.
Injuries to the face happen, and if needed, you regular health insurance will kick in to fix the bang up. A recent tour overseas found a player with an impacted tooth. Fucking gross too, it popped out above his gum.
He bought accident travel insurance. Coupled with his plan at home, total out of pocket was just $300. His company offers dental, at a cost, but he opted out of it.
So, an overseas ER visit, maxilofacial surgery back in the States. $300. No dental plan.
I don't recommend buying Dental Insurance. Doesn't make financial sense.
