I don't know, I'm struggling with this one.
I've gotten quotes from $1,200 towards $2,500 per year for basically a general liability policy, set up similar to what a personal/professional trainer would need to carry. What I'd love to know if this is included already in USAR(FU)'s GL? Does it apply to any coach, or those who've gone through the coaching level certification classes?
My fear is that we're going to find a Penn State/US Swimming/Syracuse situation in either Youth or College Rugby. Then what happens to the little precious gains we've made?
More to follow... grim, I know. But I have Son, and the Penn State scandal scared me.

Chartis SPORTS GL ADMITTED in Most States!!!!
Being ADMITTED is like being blessed with the Size of a No. 8 and the speed of a 14...
An Admitted insurance company has the backing the state's DOI, and it's general fund. Meaning, if the company goes down, the state will come in and help.
Chartis' SPORTS GL product, the only youth sports General Liability carrier I know of that has abuse/molestation liability, coach's professional liability, and the services of Praesidiuminc.com included in the policy is now Admitted in all states except:
Alaska, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, New York, Vermont, Virginia, Washington
Having the backing of your states' DOI creates a safer insurance program for your athletes.
8 + 14 = Tries!
Protect your youth league or team. Look into Chartis.

RiskSpecialists (AIG) goes ADMITTED for Youth Sports GL
ADMITTED means nothing to a Rugby player. But, to a rugby administrator, league president, or coach, Admitted means that if your Sports GL underwriter goes belly up, then the state fund used to protect insurance companies will cover the loss. (In theory...)
Risk Specialists (AIG) going admitted just adds another layer of security for the youth sports league or team.
The two biggies here are Participant's Liability and Abuse Molestation Liability. Here's why both are absolutely necessary if you want to protect the kids.
Ping me for more info or a quote.

Does your Coach have a professional designation?
So, does Coach have a Level II whatever? Here's something they might not be aware of...
Once you get a professional designation, you are held to a higher standard. This includes liability.
Example: Anyone can sell a house. If you "omit" details, and the sale goes through, tough noogies to the buyer. Caveat Emptor...
However, if you're a licensed Realtor, you are liable for Omissions. (Called Errors and Omissions Insurance, I carry it because I too am licensed.)
Does your Coach carry Miscellaneous Professional Liability? Doubt it. Does USAR(FU)'s insurance cover that? Nope.
Does your Coach work with kids?
Um, about that house of yours...
