Depends.
What do you want? The Classic Adidas Flanker? Or those new Blade boots.
You go online, check some prices, choose a size, and boom, they appear at your door in a few days.
Not so in Health Care. What does a stitch cost? A reset ankle? ACL Surgery.
Depends. Do you have insurance? Where do you live? Who happens to file the bill? The claim?
You have no ONLINE resource to determine costs of ANY of these procedures. Why?
Because insurance companies and health care providers don't want you to know. That would be bad for business. As long as you are unaware of the basic cost structure, THEY CAN CHARGE YOU WHATEVER THEY WANT.
Let me retype that.
THEY CAN CHARGE YOU WHAT EVER THEY WANT!
Now insurance companies are regulated in terms of what they pay out, and the premiums they charge. The health care providers are NOT regulated price wise.
Two Choices:
1. Regulate Prices.
2. Open the market, publish prices, and let the consumer decide.
Medicare has been trying to regulate prices for years. How do you think they're doing?
