A "Cured" Pre-existing Condition

Okay, so I get this a lot. "Yeah, I had _______, but I'm now cured."

According to who?

You. Obviously. The MD? Yep, more than likely.

The Insurance Company? Nope.

Insurance companies use past history to predict the future. IE, if you were screwed up before, they figure you'll be screwed up again.

"But, I'm cured."

Um, you're not a ham, you're a human. Two letters have been added.

Try this: An Underwriting Inquiry. Call a Broker, or the Company directly, and literally ask them about coverage with full disclosure. Two things are in your favor: 1. You're establishing a relationship with a person who'll be your advocate. 2. You be playing "what if" games in your head after you apply for coverage.

This goes to my usual theme: Personal Responsibility for your Health Care and Health Insurance. You're the one with the previous challenge. Don't blame anyone for it, because that won't get you health coverage. Taking an active role in your health will.

Don't you just love _________ insurance!
