The Nagging Injury...is it an "accident"?

The Nagging Injury. We've all had them, that tweak in the knee, shoulder, or ankle. Not exactly season-threatening, but painful and annoying.

So, how does your Health Insurance deal with this?

I like sports focused Chiropractors. Why? They're usually athletes themselves, so they want you back on the pitch also. However, most health insurance plans limit the number of Chiropractic visits, and you can get DECLINED by some insurance companies for even visiting a Chiro.

Bloody sucks, huh?

Solution: Health Savings Accounts. I save over 30 cents on the dollar here in CA by using my HSA money to see my Chiro. If the costs get big, I know that my HSA qualified plan pays 100% after meeting my deductible. You won't be able to use your Accident Medical Plan for cash, but hey, at least you're playing.

Remember, health CARE comes in three parts:

1. Minor Stuff, visiting the MD, Chiro, check ups, stitches
2. ACL Surgery, broken Ankle, season ending injury
3. Chronic Disease, the Big 5 (Cancer, HIV, Hepatitis, Diabetes, Lupus), stuff that kills slow and costs fast.

You get to pick 2 to keep your health INSURANCE affordable.

I suggest picking 2 and 3, and using your HSA to fund 1.

Nagging injuries happen. Personal responsibility for your day to day health, is nagging, but happens.
