Rugby? Isn't that like Soccer? [And you resist punching them...]

80% of my job is to educate Rugby players as to how health insurance and health care work.

Here are the common myths that I RAVE against:

1. Employer Insurance is cheaper than Individual.

No. In fact, you can get similar or better coverage for usually 1/2 the cost of Employer Insurance. The challenge is that the Employer is paying part or all of the premium, so the Employee/Insured doesn't get hit in the wallet until they lose their job. Ever hear someone bitch about their COBRA payment. That's because that premium is the actual cost. (They only exceptions are the 5 Guarantee Issue States)

2. Health Savings Accounts: You lose it if don't use it.

No. The Use or Lose was a Flexible Spending Account. HSAs are just IRAs for Health Care. See wikipedia.org/health_savings_accounts

3. Medicare and Medicaid can't run out of money.

No. I'm tired of the story regarding McAllen Texas docs. Those idiots are milking the FEDS, not a private insurance company. Oh, and you'll notice Liberals don't ofter cite this article. No profit based business would put up with those shenanigans. And, yes, you can provide comprehensive care and turn a profit. Um, private insurance has been doing that for over a 100 years.

Rugby players are A-type personalities who just want to Ruck the crap out of someone. Luckily for me, they like the fact that I find the right insurance for them, handle the claims, deal with the bureaucracy, and simply just answer the freakin' phone when they call.

Trying calling the Gov't, or anyone who claims the 3 myths above.

Oh, and...

Rugby is NOTHING like Soccer....blech!
