For what it's worth.
I injured my hand in June. Ended up in the hospital for surgery and
four days of private room with crazy piles of bills.
Luckily I had insurance. A basic policy and another policy that
picked up the balance.
I got stacks and stacks of paperwork. The first policy from Blue
Shield paid tens of thousands in hospital bills but there was a
deductible that they didn't pay. Luckily the other policy paid the
difference. I received two checks over the weekend paying me in full
so that I didn't come out of pocket for a penny.
