The employer can PAY for Health Insurance, WITHOUT owning it

Real Quick: Mass. Election Means Nothing... Like I've told you a 1,000 times!!!

Health Reimbursement Arrangements, or HRAs

The best part of group health insurance is Guarantee Issue. IE, all Pre-Existing conditions are covered.

That's why the premiums are so damn high.

However, if you have a healthy group, you might want to try an HRA. The Employer ponies up some pre-tax cash, maybe allows you to contribute, into a special account. From there, YOU can BUY your OWN health insurance.

For groups under 50, the rates are typically 1/2 for Group Health... Yep, Small business get FUCKED with health insurance.

However, an HRA lowers costs, while keeping the tax-exempt parts for both Employer and Employee.

So, why isn't it sold? Because the Insurance Agent makes less money on lower premiums.

Sucks...
