Obamacare vs. Romneycare: Some say it's different, it's good.
To me Obamacare = Romneycare. Now, Ryancare...well, keep reading.
It's now 2011. Insurance rates have increased, and costs are not contained. The idea that once we have everybody insured, only then will costs be contained is like saying once every drinks coffee everyday, Starbucks will reduce it's prices.
If the uninsured are so miserable being uninsured, where are the protests?
The "Invincibles" don't buy insurance, because it's a CRAP value for them.
The Poor don't buy insurance, because
a. they can't afford to, and
b. don't need to because of EMTALA.
The Middle Class, with kids, buy insurance, usually through employers. That's gone.
GONE.
Why the HELL would any employer spend $500-1000/employee for Health Insurance, when they could just give each $100/mo and tell them to buy their own insurance. (By contributing something, they get around the penalty of providing nothing.)
How's this possible? Because the Insurance Companies have it PERFECT on both sides of the Aisle.
If Obamacare wins, the exchanges will feed the healthy rich to the insurance companies, and the needy poor to the Post Office/DMV.
If Congressman Ryan's voucher system goes into effect, the Feds will subsidize the increases in premiums for health insurance. But, the money STILL GOES TO AN INSURANCE COMPANY.
The Rich/Healthy get care (Concierge Medicine, Private Insurance, Private Medical Networks)
The Poor/Sick get care (Slowly, horribly, but they'll never complain, they never do)
The Middle Class? Depends on how they vote. At least the Right is openly Corporatist.
