Rugby Mom can't get House Repaired

A Rugby Mom had a fire in her vacation home. Naturally, she thought her insurance would cover the repairs.

Her agent completely screwed her, IMHO. She was grossly under-insured. Remember, you get EXACTLY what you pay for with insurance. If you go cheap, you get cheap.

Assessing replacement costs is challenging, no doubt. One must factor in new building codes, new materials, current Real Estate prices, etc. etc.

New regs from the DOI are looking to fix this problem.

Of course, a few insurance groups are suing, blah blah blah. Hey, if you don't like the new rules, get out of the business.

Luckily, this Rugby Mom worked through the system, and got the repairs and code upgrades required.

Check your policy YEARLY to ensure you get your replacement costs covered properly.
