Rugby Players with Domestic Partnerships...

As you may know, I play for the SF Fog RFC, where approximately 50% of the team are openly gay.

Makes for great parties...

...Anyway, since the passing of ARRA, a question has arisen regarding the taxation of benefits, and of COBRA eligibility for domestic partnerships. (Hat Tip: InsureBlog)

Employers have been working hard to properly tax employees for the cost of medical benefits that employers provide for domestic partners, since domestic partners are not considered to be dependents for purposes of federal income taxation.

So, Obama is defending DOMA, and I guess that goes for ARRA too. That is uncool. This means that if the employer provides benefits, your domestic partner can participate, but not with equal tax advantages as a spouse in an opposite-sex marriage.

This goes for ARRA too. The employee gets the stipend and the extension, but I don't believe the domestic partner can tag along.

I wonder if Obama ever played Rugby. Bush II and Clinton did. All three need to get Rucked Over.
