Get your Stitches at Walmart

Big Ruckus by Retailers over the fact that Walmart is supporting a single payer system, IE Medicare for all.

It'll never happen in the US.

But Walmart knows that Primary Care is the place where Health care will grow most in the next 10 years. Here's what'll happen:

  • You're Med Records will be in a database, Google's.
  • You'll have some back issues, or need stitches, or just shake this cough that keeps you up at night
  • You go Walmart's Doc-in-a-Box clinic
  • Dr. Smart, who gets a flat salary of about 200k, and pays no Malpractice insurance, sees you within 20 minutes of your unannounced arrival. Dr. Smart does the Doctor-thing, exam, stitches, swabs the throat, whatever. Then, writes you a script, and sends you to the pharmacy.
  • You $4 for whatever is on the piece of paper
  • You pick up a case of Gatorade, some tape, a Harlequin Romance novel, underwear, and trash bags.
  • You leave Walmart, having seen an MD, gotten and R/x, and finished your shopping.
  • You're home 90 minutes after you left the house.
Any questions?
