Association Benefits: What if you could buy Health Insurance through your Rugby Club or League?

A former Leinster player asked about Health Insurance. Since he's a member of a professional organization, I suggested he look at what they had to offer.

Although you CANNOT create an association for the sole-purpose of buying insurance, you can utilize the buying power of your group to find insurance programs for your membership.

Nationwide has a Amateur Sports Accident/Medical Expense plan.

AIG can cover entire leagues.

And, the benefits aren't limited to Health. I've seen Life insurance and basic disability too...

Rugby Unions and larger clubs should start using their buying power to assist their membership. If we go to a single payer system here in the US, sports injuries will go to the back of the line, just like the UK (18 month wait for an ACL reattachment/reconstruction).

Unless you have some private plan that pays for Accidents and Medical Expenses...
