I know this makes no sense, but buying travel insurance with a hazardous sports rider is cheaper than buying regularly health insurance... for the overseas guy.
Why?
Insurance Law. Travel insurance doesn't fall under the 50 different versions of insurance law here in the United States. Ergo, it's not trying to cover small, very rare, but very expensive conditions.
It is what it is...
I was hoping the Health Care Bill would federalize health insurance law, at the very least. Nope. The insurance companies would lose too much money.
