What's the REAL rate?

"What's the real rate?" she asks, pissed off and feeling liked she's being manipulated.

"I don't know.  We won't know until you go through underwriting.  That's just the way it is, I'm sorry."

Remember, for Health Insurance, Disability Insurance, and Life Insurance, underwriting is done AFTER the application is signed.  Ergo, those proposals are POSSIBILITIES, not guarantees of what you'll be paying.  Your agent does not have the power to bind the policy.  You must wait for the insurance company to make an offer to you.  (Thus, you hear about people getting declined.)

However, for Property and Casualty, Commercial Insurance, the underwriting is done BEFORE you sign anything.  These types of insurance can be bound by the agent, and you get a dec page, policy documents, and an invoice.

And, whatever they did in DC won't change this at all.  Even after 2014!
