What is a "sanctioned" event?
That's the crux of USAR(FU)'s new tourney registration system. IMHO, they're trying to control Accident/Medical claims. I don't blame them at all.
The US Rugby community does NOT discipline itself when it comes to players withOUT health insurance. Yes, yes, we all sign that waiver stating we have 100k, or something, in primary health cover. Though I don't primarily do individual health insurance anymore, it's the line of business that I started with RuckingInsurance.com. Last year, Zurich underwrote the AME (Accident Medical Expense, aka A'n'H, or Accident and Health). They were replaced by Nationwide. Either Zurich chose not to renew, or Nationwide out bid them. DFM.
If you don't like filling out a form, then get your own insurance. Period. Can't get your players to CIPP? Sit them. Think you're wasting your money with USAR(FU), call me, and I'll quote your gig....
I have challenges with the Accident Medical Cover as it stands now, but that's not the point of this blog post. USAR(FU) wants to know who's operating under the insurance programs they've put in place. Makes total sense.
All you have to do is fill out a form.
RI works with a few state-wide, and nation-wide sports associations... Funny, but we don't have these problems...
